What Happened This Week in Washington

A Politically Incorrect Recap of this Week’s Politics: (10-2-20)

  1. Debate Night Debacle: The first presidential debate took center stage on American television screens Tuesday night, it what rapidly dissolved into a playground screeching match between two 70 year old men vying for the most powerful job on earth. Honestly, not much was learned other than this election has probably already been decided in voter’s minds since Biden announced he was running. Unfortunately democracy gives way to tribalism here, and no matter who wins next month I don’t think that’s a good thing for our country. The ability to think critically, to enter into a healthy argument with the willingness to be persuaded to the other side, that my friends is truly dead.
  2. Lying Jimmy: James Comey takes the stand in a long awaited showdown with the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the FBI’s role in the now discredited Russia Investigation. Comey offers “Well we didn’t intentionally commit wrongdoing…” Ted Cruz aggressively ripped into the former FBI Director, saying “This has done severe damage to the professionals and the honorable men and women at the FBI because law enforcement should not be used a political weapon. That is the legacy you’ve left.” Unfortunately, Jimmy’s ego heard this, ate it, digested it, and moved on.
  3. Nancy “I’m so Disgusted” (What, by your face?):Nancy Pelosi suggests Biden not debate Trump any more, saying that the Democratic nominee should no longer “dignify” future debates by participating in them. Members of the Democratic debate team have reportedly pushed for a mute button in the next round, citing frequent interruptions by President Trump. This of course, completely glosses over the fact that Biden was the first to interrupt, did his fair share of it throughout, and was the one who slid into calling the President a “clown” a “liar” and telling him to “shut up man”.
  4. President and First Lady Test Positive: Unsurprisingly, Pelosi and members of the “I Hate America” Squad immediately put out statements suggesting the President had this coming. Pretty sad when you can reliably count on elected officials to behave like vindictive sniveling children when the President of the United States is facing a serious health crisis. Godspeed to Mr. Trump and the First Lady.

On that somber note, we’ll close the week this:
“It is unwise, and potentially dangerous, to enjoy the misfortunes of others.”
